NewPos swabs develop an orange-yellow starting color after soaking in white vinegar and react red, purple or pink during a 30-second rub when lead is indicated.
Choose packs of 30, 60 or 90 swabs for household projects. Because vinegar is acidic, test an inconspicuous spot before using a swab on valuable antiques or delicate finishes. Yellow means no lead was detected by the screening reagent; uncertain or consequential results should be confirmed by a qualified laboratory.
